14-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Jersey City Teen: Prosecutors

A 14-year-old boy in Jersey City was arrested and charged for his involvement in the fatal shooting of Tyshawn Smith, a 15-year-old Jersey City resident on Friday, June 9, authorities said.

The teenager was charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter and multiple weapons charges, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, Suarez said.

At 4:20 a.m. on Monday, June 5, Jersey City police responded to a 911 call at 124 Wilkinson Ave. where they discovered Smith shot in the abdomen, Suarez said. He was pronounced dead soon after, Suarez said.
